Located in the rainshadow of Steens Mountain in Southeastern Oregon, the Alvord Desert is one of our favorite places in the world. It is far from major cities and thoroughfares, and is one of the least light-polluted spots in the lower 48. It’s hard to get to, which is kind of the point.
The precise location of our gathering changes from year to year. Exact GPS coordinates are emailed to participants 24-48 hrs in advance. Stay tuned. If you don't have a GPS: when the road dead-ends at the edge of the desert, keep on driving. Look for a cluster of vehicles on the distant horizon. You'll find us.
